Harar

A wonderfully laid-back and colourful town in eastern Ethiopia, Harar is the perfect destination to immerse yourself in after an arduous trek in the Simien mountains and a church climbing excursion through Tigrai.

Harar is the main muslim centre in Ethiopia and counts over 80 mosques within the old city walls. Above all, however, it is a very pleasant place to while away a day or two getting lost in the narrow streets and enjoying the myriad colourful markets which the town hums with.

(I had to borrow one of my friend’s cameras as my battery died on me; I had my card in it but couldn’t eliminate the digits on the sides of the photos)
